Will Bangladesh-U.S. Relations Change After Trump's Victory?
With Donald Trump's recent victory in the U.S. election, there is growing speculation in Bangladesh, as in many other countries, about the future of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States.
In recent years, Bangladesh-U.S. relations have been somewhat strained due to concerns over human rights. This tension was visible in various statements from both the ousted Awami League government and the U.S. However, following the July uprising and the establishment of an interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh-U.S. relations have shown signs of warming.
Professor Yunus has traditionally maintained good relations with U.S. Democrat leaders. This was evident in his recent enthusiastic meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden at the United Nations General Assembly.
