Olmo wants to bring a lot of joy to Barcelona fans

Dani Olmo is excited to return to his childhood club after a decade. He said it was always his dream to return to Barcelona. The 26-year-old Spanish forward believes he can bring plenty of celebration to the fans in the Catalan outfit's jersey.

Spain's Euro-winning footballer Olmo joined Barcelona last Friday in a six-year contract after leaving German club Leipzig. He grew up in Barcelona. In 2007, he joined Barcelona's academy from Espanyol. Spent seven years there as a youth. Then he moved to Leipzig through the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb.

Olmo told Barcelona's website on Thursday that he didn't think twice about being offered a return to his boyhood club.

"It was a dream to come back to Barca. I had an opportunity to go elsewhere. But the way the club approached me, I didn't have to think twice. Barcelona is my home. I have close friends here and it's special to be back here.”

"I am hoping to enjoy historic moments in this jersey, that is my dream. Coming back to the Camp Nou is an inspiration. I only got to play on this field once, but now I can play there again. Hope you enjoy it. We have a great team and will bring a lot of joy to our fans."

Hansi Flick's Barcelona will start the La Liga campaign with a match against Valencia next Saturday.

They will return to Camp Nou next December. Barcelona have been playing their home matches at the Olympic Stadium since last season due to the renovation of the stadium.
